Innovasys releases Document! VB
Documentation made easy
Camberley, United Kingdom — January 5, 1999 — Innovasys, developer of Visual Basic development tools, announces the release of Document! VB.
Document! VB shortcuts the normally lengthy process of developing HTML Help documentation for your Visual Basic project. The advanced code parser within Document! VB analyses your source code to provide a structured set of HTML Help pages, compiled into an HTML Help file, that represents your entire projects classes, modules, forms, User Controls, User Documents and Designers. ActiveX controls, DLLs and EXEs are all supported.
By including existing comments from your source code a complete set of documentation for your software can be generated in under a minute, saving vast amounts of laborious documentation effort and improving accuracy by documenting directly from the source code. Comments relevant to Events, Enumerations, Enumeration Members, Declare Statements, Methods, Properties, Modules (Classes / Forms etc.), Parameters and Variables can all be extracted from your source code and included within the generated HTML Help File.
The HTML Help pages in their default format look and behave in the same way as the current Microsoft style for object model documentation, with object tree diagrams to represent clickable dependancy relationships within your components and drop down menus at the head of each page to allow easy navigation between topics. In addition to the actual HTML pages a contents tree, with topics grouped into Objects, Collections, Properties and Methods is automatically generated. These files can be generated from a bespoke template format enabling you to customise and supplement the default contents.
Collections, properties, references and methods are fully documented, with hyperlinks and drop down menus providing navigation between the interdependant objects in your documentation. Where relevant, Syntax, parameters and Return Types are documented with references to other elements of your project represented by clickable hyperlinks.
Document! VB can also automatically add context sensitive help support to your Visual Basic project, such that a user of your component invoking F1 on a method, property or object name will invoke the generated HTML Help File.
Document! VB installs as a convenient Add-In, running under Visual Basic 5 or 6. The wizard comes with complete 'What's this' help and a full online help manual.
Document! VB is the only commercial product available at
time or writing that allows developers to effortlessly produce high quality,
accurate HTML Help using only their existing source code and
comments.
