Moving help files to new locations

     Hello!

Recently one of my fellow employees started using HelpStudio and finished up couple documents. After looking them over they decided to move them to the server location with the other files that our company is working on. After moving the files over they proceeded to open the compiled html file for it and see that it is not working. Being that Im not certain as to how the program works or how its files associate with other things Im not certain as to why it wont display as it had previous done from the actual hard drive on their computer.

So any foresight into my situation as to what needs to be done to get rid of the issue would be fantastic!

    Thanks!

Windows contains a security feature (introduced in XP SP2 and later) that blocks viewing CHM files when they are on a UNC path. There is (I believe) a workaround for this, but it involves a registry change.

Let me know if you think that might not be the problem here.

I would definately think this is going to be the issue here. The old location of the file path was something specific to the hard drive as opposed to the new location involving a server filepath. I also assume using an ftp location wouldnt work either.

Out of curiosity  what kind of registry change would this involve?

     Wow...

The workarounds involve registry changes so great care is required. My registry knowledge is pretty much limited to making changes described by others so I cannot help you if you get it wrong!

Remember, unless you have the training, the golden rule with the registry is DFA. (Don't fiddle about, or something like that.)

While this isnt coming as a surprise its also not very comforting.

Thank you for the link Pete Lee. I will definitely be looking deeper at your page on how to resolve this issue.
